Off of Highway 45 north of Kansas City is the Weston Bluff Trail. It is a scenic short trail that follows the Missouri River into the Quaint Little town of Weston, MO.
There are a number of Lewis & Clark Historical Markers on the trail.
Some of the trail is paved and some is crushed limestone but it was easily traveled with the LHTs 32 tires. There are some hills, but nothing too challenging Most of the trail is tree lined and there are a few great Photo Opportunities overlooking the river.
The trail head ends in the Town of Weston. A nice 3 mile ride into a cute town makes for a great little day trip. You can park at the trail head.... or ride there from KC like I did.

Time to take a break...
Out side of Kansas City on route 9 there is a wonderful stone structure that I stopped at to take a brake. I was am amazed at the structure and how it was put together. This is a quick video of some of the structure.... and it also shows the Long Haul Trucker with a pretty good load on it. And as all can attest, the LHT rides better when loaded !

Nice Little Ride
This is a part of a great ride with lots of hills that work the legs. Beautiful area, with nice homes around a lake. It does take a little time to get use to the hills. But with time, the approach is defined that works best. And then the legs get a little stronger.
Video is short, but does show some of the territory.

7,000 miles on the LHT
Odometer turned over the 7,000 mile mark today.
It took 2 years to do it.... but may be more in the next 2 years.
The Long Haul Trucker has been a great choice in bikes. Carries lot of equipment and rides so nice. It is not fast, but neither am I. Lately I have been considering the purchase of a recumbent... but so far just in the thinking stage.
After 7,000 miles I have concluded:
-Marathon Plus Tires are the way to go for me.
-I change out the chain about every 2,000 miles
-I change out the rear cassette with the 3rd chain
-I love the Brooks Flyer saddle
-I like my air horn
-I like the cateye odometer better than the Planet Bike one
-Lots of blinking lights get you noticed
-The Stem Captain Therometer is nice
-I do not like riding into the wind
-Steep Rolling hills are a challenge
-Seems whereever I choose to put up the tent, it is wrong.
-People like Surly Bikes.
