Update June 2026:2009 - 2026
At about 5,000 miles on it in e-bike configuration, my old Surly Long Haul Trucker developed a sporadic power loss issue that I hopefully thought might be resolved by replacing the motor controller.
In replacing the motor controller a frame break around the bottom bracket was discovered. It was determined that the frame was no longer safe. The frame was returned to the bicycle shop from where it was purchased. The team at the shop admired the length of service and mileage it have giving.
It may find a place on the shop wall.
But the old Surly Long Haul Trucker had been an awesome bike for me.
